Description
Sheila Hutchinson is well known in Norfolk for her books relating the history of Norfolk towns and villages. This is her latest and follows her unique style, relying extensively on photographs and clippings from old newspapers to bring stories to life. It is not, by her own admission, a complete history and doesn’t follow strict chronology, but picks on various topics, such as the pubs of the village, the railway, the various shops and businesses, and tells their stories. If there’s anything you want to know about Acle from the last 200 years, you will find it here.
“An absolute joy. You don’t have to come from the town to enjoy it. This is of interest to anyone who loves Norfolk, its history and its people.” Derek James, Eastern Daily Press
