Description

On every street there is a story. Roll up, roll up for a circus adventure in Edwardian Yarmouth, merry-go-race through King’s Lynn history with fabulous fairground animals, get swept back in time with the marvellous mice of Wymondham, meet the magical medieval dragon of Norwich and the musical Owl of Holt, discover the magnificent street procession of a Tudor Queen and get ready to be bedazzled by the delightful dancer of a Georgian theatre. Inspired by collections at Norfolk Heritage Centre and the history of Norfolk streets, this book consists of imaginative short stories where love and friendship take centre stage.

About The Author

Isabelle King

Hi there, my name is Isabelle King. I’m a Storyteller, Producer and creative writing tutor based in Norfolk.

My children’s books encourage families and schools to engage with local history and museums in a fun and imaginative way.

Here’s a review for Emelia Moorgrim and the Medieval Monsters of Norfolk by Award-winning children’s author Ben Manley.

Emelia’s adventures are fast-paced and told with energy and humour. A light, zany romp that also manages to make a case for the importance of storytelling and imagination in communicating history to future generations.

I have produced storytelling activities and educational resources, aimed for family & school audiences for the National Centre for Writing and for Humanists UK. As a former Prince’s Trust Young Ambassador I represented The Trust at The Business Book Awards 2018, having undertaken the enterprise programme with Books Talk Back.  Books Talk Back is a grassroots initiative of literary events and workshops that connect emerging and established authors, showcase fresh voices and offer a relaxed, supportive space for constructive critique and the eating of biscuits.

My background is in theatre where I could be seen in various Shakespearian guises. Due to a keen interest in literature and social history, I have since worked as a Bookseller for Waterstones in Norwich and in Visitor Services for Norfolk Museums Service.

My writing draws from historical objects and archives to bring history to life through storytelling and explore how people have related to their environments throughout time. I also run workshops because I would like people to enjoy storytelling as much as I do!
