Cassie is a 17 year old from Norwich with a complicated background – her Mum and Dad both died in mysterious circumstances and she lives with her grandfather in Heartsease. Its 2018 and odd things happen to her. Suddenly while walking through Castle Mall she finds herself jumping back to the early 1990s guided by the mysterious Kay.
Without giving too much away, this is an adventure story, an urban fantasy, moving back and forth through time in and around Norwich, following Cassie as she arrives at historic events whilst being chased by someone who appears to be determined to kill her.
This book is a really good read, well constructed with good historical detail. But it is very difficult to categorize as it doesn’t really fit into any traditional genre – I guess it falls somewhere between Doctor Who and the Time Traveller’s Wife with elements of His Dark Materials! I think readers of all ages can enjoy this, from older teenagers to an oldie like me.
If you’re looking for something a bit different, with a lot of local Norwich references, this is great fun.
