Scandal, Intrigue and Resistance

Step into the darker, more dramatic side of Norfolk’s past with Scandal, Intrigue and Resistance, the first of Poppyland’s new ‘Poppyzine’ graphic history series.

Five extraordinary true stories brought to life in graphic novel style, from a bitter church dispute in Burnham Westgate and the struggles of Norwich’s weavers in 1822, to a mysterious encounter on Yarmouth beach, a violent poaching affray near Letton, and the scandalous Norwich Election Petition of 1868.

Presented in a lively comic-style format, the stories combine historical research with dramatic artwork, contemporary sources and engaging storytelling.
