Richard Hunt goes back to the original Roman sources to see what they actually said to piece together the true story of Queen Boudicca.
The Roman conquest of Britain and the rebellion of Queen Boudicca are some of the most evocative moments in British history. Thousands of years later, the contemporary accounts have been abridged and the stories have taken on a mythological bent – but what really happened can still be found.
In Queen Boudicca’s Battle of Britain, Richard Hunt goes back to the original Roman sources to see what they actually said at the time – and, perhaps more crucially, what they didn’t say. In doing so, he invites you to look at all the evidence and make your own deductions. With the full benefit of his analysis, you can then piece together the true story of what happened all those years ago.
Compellingly written and closely researched, Queen Boudicca’s Battle of Britain will appeal to all those interested in early British history, as well as those who just enjoy a good thrilling story.
