This book is an updated version of Historic Yarmouth, which was originally published in 1980 by the then Great Yarmouth and District Archaeological Society.  The original book aimed to assist those who wished to explore Great Yarmouth “behind the seafront”.

This edition is a guide to the historic buildings of Great Yarmouth and places them in the context of the history of the town. It continues to promote the aims of the original edition but, reflecting the advances in conservation, has included more historic buildings within the town walls, plus buildings beyond the wall which form part of Great Yarmouth’s seaside and Naval heritage.  The book is structured in the form of two walks with the features numbered and marked on the included map, and includes modern photographs of all the buildings.
