Firstly, worth saying we’ve been blown away by the success of The Boleyns of Blickling.  In the first few weeks we’ve sold almost 500 copies and have had to go back to the printers for more.  It’s been featured in the Eastern Daily Press and the author, Chuck Weigand, has been on Radio Norfolk.  So thank you to everyone who has bought a copy.

Several new books this month, plus a few that are coming shortly.

Cromer Lifeboats

This is a substantial new book providing a complete and comprehensive history of one of the most famous lifeboat stations in the country. Local author Paul Russell, along with renowned lifeboat historian Nicholas Leach, have put together this wonderful book documenting the boats, the people and the rescues carried out from Cromer since the earliest days of rowing lifeboats, before even the RNLI was set up.

Apart from the specific history of Cromer station, this book illustrates how life saving at sea has developed over two centuries, and how new technologies have been adopted to improve safety and comfort for the crews as well as increasing the likelihood of successful rescues. The book runs to over 300 pages, printed in full colour with hundreds of photographs, both modern and from the archives.

Lord Nelson

We often get asked for books about Nelson, and had reached a point where we didn’t have anything. So a search ensued and there are surprisingly few in print.  As a result I persuaded Poppyland to reprint their biography, which they have re-issued with a new cover and revised title: Nelson, The Norfolk Hero. I also found Nelson, Britain’s Greatest Naval Commander, by David Ross, which is very reasonably priced at £7.99.
